First off...Thanks for the good laughs you have provided me with some of the comments ...lol
I have nothing to envy this Catnip. I don't lose sleep or money over whatever this person does or not do and to be honest the quality of their stuff is not of my liking nor my style. This about an injustice that have been brought to my attention by more than one designer. It is all about respecting other peoples ideas and not try to make profit out of them. I can understand inspiration and having the same tastes in things, I even understand wanting to recreate a design that someone else did a while ago and attempt to do it much better but only an insensitive and uninspired creator would try to sell the same item only weeks or days apart from their original release. This has happened to my knowledge in more than one occasion. She is either a really good imitator or she possesses some kind of ESP that makes her come up with the same ideas as others at the same time. The coincidences are far to great to ignore.
What are the odds of so many of the items being so strikingly similar and released in such an uncomfortably close period of time. Nobody can be that unlucky nor that great that so many stores want to copy from. It doesn't take a genious to see that something ain't right there. If you wish to keep supporting and defending the store is up to you. I have provided what has been shown to me and what I have seen myself and understand your reluctance to accept it because is a hard thing to prove but some of them speak by themselves and don't blame the designers, I am speaking for them. someone has to. You be the judge and If I can open the eyes of at least some of you or get her to be more aware of what shes doing then my job here is done. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and this is mine. Comment and rage among yourselves.

ReplyDeleteThere are plenty of reasons for why similar items can be released within a short period of time. A certain TV show or movie might become popular and more than one person wants to create related items in SL. Whenever there is a Lord of The Rings marathon on TNT, I seem to see another wave of elven ears on XSL. Do I see any of those designers saying "zomg you copied me, you unoriginal hag!"...? Nope. Maybe somebody suggested an item to multiple designers? I have personally sent a notecard to all my favorite skin-makers to request they make a skin with a black lace bar across the eyes and blood red lips. Does every skin-maker that has created a skin with dripping mascara get called out for copying the very first person to use that idea?
You think you speak for all designers when you clearly don't. You speak for a couple uppity cunts that can't get over the fact that somebody made a similar item better. None of the items shown are truly original. This isn't the first dog house ever made. That's not the first time we've ever seen a rainbow necklace. She did not create the very first apron. If you want to compare neko laundry baskets, there are dozens. Don't try to single Catnip out saying she *stole* an item when she is really only one of a hundred different stores offering a version of the same thing. Just because you can pick out a handful of items that look similar to another person's creations, doesn't mean it's stolen.
And to accuse somebody just because you 'heard' something from a disgruntled creator is already pathetic enough. But to create an actual website about it? That's a whole new level of sad.
It's pretty obvious that you didn't get the outraged supporters you were hoping for with this little blog of yours. You weren't a complete failure, though. You did succeed at a number of things here. Let's see.. You've managed to more than double Catnip's traffic. You've made the creators that were 'copied' look like crybabies that want to take credit for unoriginal ideas. You've shown, picture by picture, that Catnip's versions of these items are of higher quality. You've made yourself look like a child that will kick and scream hoping that being loudest will make you right. You've shown Akasha how much she is admired and respected by giving people a reason to seek her out and tell her how much they enjoy her work, to not let this nonsense to get to her, and to keep on creating items for Catnip. I know that wasn't your goal, but you succeeded with FLYING colors! Good job! :)
Akasha and respected in the same paragraph? insane. You rushing to her aid obviously shows she's pulled more than the wool over your eyes, did she flutter her eyelids and flash a bit tit? It seems more than obvious she has her little circle of followers and she's pointed them in this direction and told them to stand up for her, so she doesnt have to do it herself, pretty pathetic from every angle.

And I have also watched her partner fly around areas and do her dirty work, just thought I'd throw that in.
See now I know most of those people are full of shit. I am with Akasha 99% of the time. And if you really knew her and her partner, you'd know the spend all their time on ONE sim. Just some shit talking!

ReplyDeleteAkasha didn't have to ask anyone to defend her. She's chosen to not acknowledge this pathetic excuse for 'justice', but I'm not that nice. I defend her because I know her. I know her work and I know how she does what she does. And none of it involves copying or theft. Your obsession with her, and apparently her boyfriend, shows that you not only have no life, but are pretty pathetic - from every angle. Even if I didn't know her, I'd defend her against baseless and childish attacks such as these.

Do you really know her that well, spending countless hours with her, watching and listening to her come up with these ideas? And even so, is it not possible she plays it off that way? How many of you really know her that well? How many of you really spend alot of time with her?

How many stores have you stood outside, threatening and name calling, and talking shit. Because someone made something that Catnip did, and it was such an offence. But now you all defend her when she does it in return, you stand by the copier and not the copied, as you did when Catnip was the victim. So it seems to me, you are all sheeps, following this woman because she makes silly, stupid stuff. And you are all delusional if you really beleive she is a great designer. Her textures are crap, and take a closer look at the prims, are they allighned correctly, are they really nice and pretty? Sheep, is what you all are.
And to Bailey: You contradicted yourself. Saying that all tattoo sets are pretty much compromised of the same thing. But yet you said the one from Cloud 9 wasn't what you were looking for. How fair is that, really? And just from the pictures, I can tell Cloud 9 did a much better job. Far more realistic. And yes, compromised of the same things, but you just HAD to go to another designer and request she make it. I think that is low.
You all make me feel disappointed towards the human race, and you certainly give SL a bad name. So, if I were a designer, and I made many things that resembled Catnips, it would be ok? Right? Because its not copying, is it, if I change it up a bit, and swear I didn't copy. Oh, but I bet you guys would attack me for it, because OMG, I copied Catnip, and that is just soooooo wrong. Maybe I will learn to build.
Really, people, take a look at yourself, and this Catnip lady, and ask yourself "Am I doing the right thing in defending this woman so visiously? And would she care enough about me to do the same if I needed it?" I'm willing to bet she wouldn't. Seems to me, she cares more about getting products in her store, regardless how crappily they are built, then actually having good original product. But hey, if that is what you want in a favorite designer, then have at it. I just hope you all see the truth one day, and stop being mindless followers. Doubtfull.
This is Akasha- and I'm just going to speak this last time and then shut this little tribute blog. I guess I'm flattered that someone would go to these lengths to try and discredit me. I have a suspicion on who it is but that isn't important, this obviously makes them happy so go with God I suppose. Most of the items mentioned were made about two years ago so id just say check creation dates--others were customer requests that I fulfilled. My only fault is not checking every SL store before hand to see if its already been done but I assumed if they were coming to me then they had already searched and haven't found it- but in the future I will make a point to check around more before agreeing to do custom work.
ReplyDeleteFor those that think I'm a crappy designer, hey that's ok. I know I'm not the best builder but I do my best and I'm still learning every day. If you like other stores better then shop at their places, if you like mine then come to mine. One of the great things about SL is the variety and range of shops and creations.
At the end of the day I know that Ive done my best and I haven't stolen from anyone, my conscience is clear. I'm really sorry that the creator of the blog is so unhappy-if they would have come to me I could have explained my side but it seems they already had pitchforks in hand and torches lit. To everyone that defended me than you--I didn't ask you to but it was touching to read. For those that believe the author of the blog-well that's your choice and and I hold no ill will twards you.

ReplyDeletethis is just a sad excuse to try and slander and get more blog views and fans. Its the nature of business. One store creates something, claim they are the best and only originals, slander the others in an attempt to get more sales. This whole blog is full of ridiculous claims with no proof to back it up. pictures do nothing. the real truth is in creation date. You supply those with your left field claims then maybe someone would listen. We basically all know who this person is already, i would like to address you personally and say, get a life, you yourself have copied idea's which we have more than 1 person to agree and proof to back it up. Move on with your life, and grow up. Preaching for someone to be original when you, yourself have a store Named based on a movie and BUILT based on a movie, need to look up a term i like to call Hypocrite.
